# 23 Last one YEAH!!

I can't believe I have finished the learning 2.0 program. I found most of the going pretty tough, when I look at the other blogs mine is pretty basic, though I am proud of what I have achieved as at the beginning I wouldn't have thought it was possible. I am not really computer minded so I have had to ask for help quite often, Larrikin's Lurch has been a real help to me, and she urged me on when I was ready to give up.The program has taught me a lot about new technology which I didn't even know existed. I enjoyed the 'library thing' as I have quite a collection of books, also the image generator was a fun because I got to design my own m&m.

# 22 Audio books

The concept of downloadable audio books is a fantastic idea, it would make it easier for library customers to access books. At the moment audio books tend to get damaged easily, tapes break and discs get scratched, and when it is an old item, it is not always replaceable. So having books which you can download for a loaning period makes a lot of sense to me.It is probably a service I would use if our library had it.

# 21 Podcasts

For this exercise I had a look at podcast.net, I searched under libraries and the most recent podcast date was 25/5/2006,also a lot of them wouldn't play. Then I had a look at the Library channel and I couldn't get any of them to play, from there I went to book reviews, but most of them were movies. I finally came across 'Authors on tour' which I put into my bloglines. Personally I wouldn't use podcasts as I am not into all this technology, but I am sure there is a use for it in the libraries of the future.

# 20 You Tube

This is the first time I have had a look at You tube. I wasn't impressed, nearly everything I went to was rude! So I went back and had a look at the ones that were listed, they were a lot better. I really liked the 'mobile library' on the 'Do you want to be a librarian' clip. I picked the clip 'library dominos' because I thought it might be fun to do that at work.

# 19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

This exercise was one of the easier ones, I had a look at the 2.0 awards list and then I went to the Web 2.0 tool directory, it is amazing how many sites are there to browse through. One of the things I really liked was I didn't have to sign up to anything, and I didn't have to actually do anything except browse through the different sites. How it would be used in libraries I'm not really sure.

# 18 ZOHO

Well I had a look at the zoho writer, I even registered, though I had promised myself I wasn't going to register for anything else, I am having trouble keeping up with all the passwords! Anyway I played around and typed up a document, then I even added a picture. Only trouble was when I tried to publish it to my blog, I got the whole page of instructions as well. I really don't think that I would use it on a regular basis, if I need to make a document I think I would rather use WORD, and save it on a usb.

# 17 Sandbox

Well I have been to the sandbox and had a play, I added my blog to the favorite animals, I also tried to add a photo, but I couldn't work out how to do it. It looks like I will need the help of 'Larrikin Lurch' again! It was interesting reading other peoples comments.

# 16 Wikis

Doing this learning 2.0 is like trying to learn a foreign language. I had never heard of wiki before, let alone used it. I can see where it would be a really helpful tool to share information, and gather new information. I am actually thinking of using it to organize Christmas dinner this year though I will have to educate other family members on using wiki or we could go hungry. As part of the exercise I added my blogger name to the list, but I'm not sure I added it to the right one, only time will tell.

# 15 Library 2.0

This is a bit difficult for me to blog about because I'm not really into all this technology. I am sure library 2.0 will be useful in the future, but how it will effect me personally I am really not sure.

# 14 Technorati

Okay, so now I have had a look at technorati and I have created another account (more passwords to remember!) anyone looking at my blog can now tag it as a favorite. I have also claimed my blog so it is all mine, what more could a person want than their very own blog!

# 13 Del.icio.us

I have never used bookmarks before, except for the old fashioned kind in between the pages of a book. Having a look at del.icio.us I think I will now be using it, as it is an easy way of keeping track of my favorite sites. Though anyone reading my blog page would be aware that I am not one who uses a computer to any extent, but by the time I have finished doing the learning 2.0 I may even become a permanent blogger.

#12 Rollyo

This was one of the easier exercises which I have had to do. Though I still got a work colleague to help. I'm not sure if this is going to be of any benefit to me personally.

# 11 Library Thing!

I found library thing really good, and I will most likely be using it quite a bit in the future. Though it will take me quite a while to put all my books in as I have quite a collection.

#8 Bloglines

This was an extremely frustrating exercise! If it wasn't for a very patient work colleague I don't think I would have got anywhere with this one. I owe my sanity to her, she perserved while I was ready to throw the whole computer out of the window.

#10 Image Generator- become an m&m

http://www.becomeanmm.com/
I thought this m&m generator is really fun because I love m&ms, I was actually surprised how easy it was to do this exercise, as I have been having trouble with the rss feed exercise. So for the moment I have skipped it and I will go back to it later.

And as I am the Duchess of Dallas, I decided to make my own Hollywood sign.

The next step (Flickr)

Ok, so people are actually interested in what I am saying, so on to the next step. Modern technology, I find it all a bit scary, until I actually understand it, and I realise it doesn't control me, I am the master. If I don't like what my computer is doing I press 'control alt delete'. When I first started using computers and I came across an alert which said I had done an illegal action, I half expected the police to come knocking on my door. It is only in the last couple of years that I have actually started using computers on a regular basis, so as you can guess I am a bit behind most of the population.
I still remember I received a transistor radio for Christmas one year, and I was amazed at how that small object could play music (what's even more amazing is that I can remember back 35 years ago!) Now I have this tiny mp3 player which holds 100's of songs, and also displays my photos. The younger generation take all of this for granted, so it would be interesting in another 30 years to see what will actually amaze them.

Starting to get the hang of it.

I think I am getting the hang of it, though I seem to be having trouble registering, so at the moment no-one except me can view this blog. I think that might be a good thing because I still haven't got anything exciting to blog about. I will come back to this once I have got one of my work collegues to give me a hand at registering.

First timer

This is my first time blogging (if that is what you call it). I am only doing it because I have to do it for work. I'm quite positive no one is going to be the slightest bit interested in what I have to say.
